Frankenstein: Walton and Victor card sort resource
This card sort activity is perfect for students as they examine ideas around two main characters in the novel 'Frankenstein' by Mary Shelley. GCSE English Literature students studying the novel for all specifications would find this resource useful in helping them to analyse Victor Frankenstein and Robert Walton, focusing on their complexities and how the two characters share similarities and differences.
Students can complete this activity independently, in pairs or in groups. Students take the cards and sort them into three piles:
- Statements that apply to Robert Walton
- Statements that apply to Victor Frankenstein
- Statements that apply to both characters.
Once this is achieved, the class could discuss their responses, why they put cards into certain piles and what this reveals about Shelley's use of characterisation.
